Bachelor of Clinical Sciences, Doctor of Medicine (BClinSci MD)

Charles Darwin University and Flinders University work in partnership by offering a double degree pathway in the Northern Territory. The Bachelor of Clinical Sciences is available to school leavers or higher education students who have studied for no more than one year and hold year 12 qualifications. There are 12 places available per year. There is a sub quota of 7 places, 5 NT Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander places and 2 National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander places. CDU’s BCSc is a 2 year degree before transitioning into Flinders NT Medical Program (NTMP) is 4 years totalling 6 years double degree.

This program is unique in that students who are successful in transitioning into the Doctor of Medicine with Flinders NT Medical Program qualify for a return to service agreement with the Government where their Medical degrees are funded by the Northern Territory Government in return for their service to the Northern Territory for 4 years, this is an initiative to grow local Doctors and ideally keep the Doctors in the NT.

Entry Level

School leaver provisional
School leaver provisional entry pathways are offered by universities that have graduate-entry medical courses. They guarantee school leavers a place in the graduate entry medical program on the condition that they first complete a bachelor level degree course at the university and meet specified conditions (such as maintaining a particular grade point average and finishing the degree in the normal minimum time period).

Entry Criteria

The selection into the course is based on your performance in the UMAT and obtaining a competitive ATAR, usually about 92>, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ATAR of 85>

To progress to the Flinders MD Program you will need to maintain a credit average throughout the Bachelor course.

Preparation Course

None

• Subject to passing all topics in these first two years and gaining a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5 (Credit average) you will then undertake the existing four year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program.
