Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet (AIH) have now released their Overview of Australian Indigenous health status 2014, and it is now freely available from the Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet web resource. It provides a comprehensive summary of the most recent indicators of the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
The Overview shows that the health of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people continues to improve slowly. The Overview confirms that there have been declines in infant mortality rates and an increase in life expectancy. There have also been improvements in a number of areas contributing to health status such as increased immunisation coverage and a slight decrease in the prevalence of tobacco use among Indigenous people.
